About Me

Sharing a little bit about me…

As a little girl I was brought up with deep values and beliefs that if you can see somebody needs help, offer your help, do not wait for them to ask. This value has helped me to be aware of others around me and develop a love of working with my community.

While we are all familiar with that saying, “best laid plans don’t always go as planned” As an adult my plan A amongst other things was to be in the police force, but due to circumstances out of my control, I had to relook at what my future may hold. Through adversary and determination, my Plan B forging a new goal and working as a professional counsellor turned out to be everything and more than I could of hope for. My Plan B has turned out to be my perfect plan A.

I have worked in the industry as a professional counsellor and member with The Australian Counselling Association for over 15 years, with a special interest and majoring in grief, loss and Abuse Counselling. In addition to my counselling practise, I also work with Taylor and Forgie Funeral Director in supporting their grieved families, providing grief support.

I have always been passionate about helping people of any age. Over the years I have worked and continue to work with both young children and youth in school settings and privately.

I believe, regardless of our background, or who we are as individuals, we will all share times in our lives where we need support and the opportunity to just sit and explore where we are in life, look at how we got here, have a vision on where we would like to be, and finally be given the tools to reach our full potential and goals.

In a world where we have so many communication tools, so many of us still feel like we are not being heard, validated, or valued in our lives. I believe everybody has the right to feel these things. I pride myself in providing a warm and relaxed environment where clients feel comfortable to be themselves, to express their thoughts and feelings in a non-judgemental setting.

In addition to my counselling qualifications, I also have qualifications in Youth Work, Community Services and Children Services with DECD and Police clearances.

While it takes courage to make that first step, your first step may be your best step forward. If you are looking for support, I welcome the opportunity to work alongside you.
